Welcome to the Movement Detroit 2020 2020 Volunteer Program!

Volunteering for the Movement Music Festival offers you the unique opportunity to attend the festival, make new friends and experience what it is like working behind-the-scenes to produce a world–renowned event.

Each year on Memorial Day weekend, thousands of people from across the globe gather in the birthplace of Techno to celebrate the heritage of Detroit and its musical influence over countless generations, new and old. Movement Music Festival is one of the longest-running dance music events in the world, committed to showcasing authentic music and providing an experience unlike any other. The festival takes place in Hart Plaza – Detroit’s legendary riverfront destination.

If you are interested in being a part of the Movement Team for 2020, please take some time to review the following information.

Volunteer Requirements -

  1. - Movement Team Members must be at least 18 years old, with a valid picture ID. Team Members must bring their government-issued identification card/license/passport with them to check in for each shift.

    - Applicants must pay a $15 non-refundable application fee in order to apply.

    - All volunteers must sign and submit their volunteer waiver prior to the event.

    - Volunteer roles do not include any monetary compensation.

    - Team Members are required to check in at the Volunteer Check-in Tent before and after their shift to exchange their ID for the correct credentials.

    - Team Members are to refrain from consuming any cannabis, alcohol or illegal substances while on duty, or prior to shift.  Work sober, party later if you so choose!

    - Team Members must be respectful of other volunteers, staff, security, performers, and festival attendees.

    - Team Members are expected to complete their full shift. Showing up late to a shift or missing a shift may jeopardize your chance to volunteer as a Movement Team Member in the future. If an emergency occurs, please contact the volunteer coordinator immediately so that arrangements can be made.

    - While on duty, Team Members must wear their provided shirt. Team Members are not to wear their volunteer shirts while off-duty.

Volunteer Benefits -

One shift equals one day pass, so working three shifts will provide you admission into the festival for the entire weekend.  Shifts are generally 6 hours, but can vary slightly by day / assignment type.  Volunteers that work during the weekend are also welcome to enjoy the festival before or after their assigned shift.

Movement Team Members will also receive a free volunteer t-shirt to wear during their shift, and to keep as a memento of your experience.

Check-in Information

During the festival (Saturday-Monday) you will check in at the Volunteer Check-in Tent located immediately inside the festival perimeter at Bates and E. Jefferson. You will need your ID in order to check in. The same process applies to those working evening shifts, who want to enjoy the festival before their assignment begins.  Once your shift is complete, please return to the Volunteer Check-In Tent to clock out.  Then you are free to leave or enjoy the festival.
